A studio for technology that has to work.

SCAA started in 1995. Three decades on, we are a small senior team designing and operating IT for Australian organisations whose work doesn't tolerate the catalogue.

Our story

From 1995 to today.

We started as a small communications and infrastructure outfit — copper, PABXs, the unglamorous foundations of Australian businesses in the nineties. Mulgrave, Victoria. Senior engineers, hands-on work, the kind of relationships that get built when the same person picks up the phone for ten years.

Over three decades, the work deepened. Financial services came first — insurance brokers, underwriters, and the kind of bespoke rating and workflow systems that off-the-shelf software never quite covers. Healthcare followed: private hospitals, day surgeries, specialist practices — and we learned what it means to be responsible for systems clinicians rely on. Education arrived through schools that needed networks that actually held up first day back.

Today the studio runs the IT for organisations across those sectors and several others, designs and builds custom platforms where the market doesn't offer one (Cognify), and stays deliberately small. The team you talk to is the team that does the work. No rockstar bios — the studio is collective by design.

How we work

Four habits, applied at every layer.

Understand before recommending: Every engagement starts with discovery — your work, your sector, your obligations, the moments that matter most. Recommendations come after we know enough to make them. No vendor-driven proposals.
Own the whole Stack: Identity, network, compute, applications, operations — handled by one team, one set of accountabilities. The phone call you make is the phone call that resolves it. No handoffs to a third party we are "just resellers for".
Build when the catalogue runs out: Cognify exists because our healthcare clients needed integration the market didn't offer. The studio bench includes senior engineers who do design and delivery, not just operations — so when the catalogue ends, we don't.
Stay with the work: Most of our client relationships are measured in decades, not contracts. We stay current because the technology keeps moving; we stay accountable because the work doesn't get easier. The line is what we owe you in year ten.
